Fuel Surcharges

The fuel surcharge was originally instituted on April 1, 2004 due to wildly fluctuating fuel costs. It was hoped to be temporary, but this depends upon the market stabilizing from what it has been.

We do not intend to make changes to this additional cost very often, since we feel this would be easier on both our clients and ourselves.

The decision to raise or lower the amount assessed as a surcharge is based upon nationwide fuel prices reported at the website of the EIA (Energy Information Administration).

Changes to the surcharge translate roughly to a 5% rate change for every 20% fuel cost change.

The best source of information to update how much our surcharge is can be found either on the Rates page of our site, or by phone.

Thank you for your understanding.
